The 9X25 Dillon conversion project started back April 17th 2008 with the purchase of a Bar-Sto Match Grade barrel for my S&W1006 from Mike McNett of Double Tap. The barrel arrived April 21st, 2008 and inspection showed it needed to be fitted to the slide and frame of the S&W1006 before anything else.I could've gotten away with carrying 9x25 on duty previously, but for the reasons above I chose other calibers. My 9x25 is a fun-gun or 'special applications' gun, when the cartridge's power would likely be put to good use. This is a really interesting sounding cartridge. It gets near rifle ballistics out of a bullet about the size of a 9mm. For instance, one load at DoubleTap Ammo gets 1800 fps velocity and 827 ft/lbs energy at the muzzle.9mm bullets are great to outstanding at 380 ACP, 9mm Parabellum, and .357 SIG velocities, but 9x25 Dillon might be a little too much.
