It has super low DC's. you dont apply ANY ability score bonus to ANY of your attacks. Meaning you basically run up to someone and do 4 attacks with an incredibly low to-hit. Then you deal 4d4 damage. It was worth it to me just to (A3 spoilers) . As for functionally in combat, I mostly just used it if I needed to be a lil bit tankier.
