Why is there a thumbs up on facetime

If your on a video call and you do thumbs up it comes up w/ a bubble w/ the thumbs up. Same thing w/ if you do thumbs down. If you do a heart symbol w/ your hands it will create heard and if you do the peace signal hand thingy balloons will come. Thats all I found out so far! :D.
